When We Save, You Save: New BaseBox Pricing

BaseBox 72 now starts at $13,299. BaseBox 152 starts at $16,999.

We didn't arrive at those prices by cutting corners, stripping features out of BaseBox, or running a promotion.

We got there by continuing to do what we have been doing since we started BuildSwift: questioning costs, improving the product, working closely with our manufacturing partners, and looking for better ways to build and deliver useful space.

And when those efforts created real savings, we made a decision about what to do with them.

We passed them on.

A Better Price, Not a Cheaper Product

There is an important difference between making something cheaper and finding a more efficient way to make it.

The standard BaseBox still gives you the things that matter:

  • insulated steel construction

  • finished flooring

  • windows and exterior door

  • standard electrical configuration

  • durable, non-combustible mineral-wool insulation

  • assembly included

The standard configuration now uses our flat primary roof and smooth exterior wall panels. Customers who want the secondary sloped roof or decorative embossed exterior can still add those as upgrades.

That lets the person who wants a straightforward BaseBox buy exactly that, without having to pay for appearance upgrades they may not want.

The result is simple:

BaseBox 72 — From $13,299

BaseBox 152 — From $16,999

Delivery and optional upgrades are additional.

Why Did the Price Change?

As a young company, we are constantly learning.

Every supplier conversation, prototype, shipment, material choice, installation and logistics decision teaches us something. Over time, we have been able to identify places where we can reduce cost without reducing the quality or usefulness of the product.

Some of that comes from better sourcing.

Some comes from simplifying our standard configuration.

Some comes from improving how we manufacture, ship and assemble BaseBox.

And some comes from designing the business around what customers actually need rather than automatically adding cost because “that's how construction has always been done.”

Those savings add up.

We could have kept the previous pricing and simply increased our margin.

We chose not to.

Our Business Has to Make Money. But That Isn't the Only Goal.

BuildSwift is a business. We need to make a profit. We need to pay our people, stand behind our products, maintain a real warranty, grow inventory, improve our equipment and facilities, and build a company that will still be here years from now.

There is nothing wrong with making money by creating something useful.

But we also believe a business can make decisions based on more than the maximum amount it can charge.

One of the reasons BuildSwift exists is that useful space has become unnecessarily expensive.

A backyard office shouldn't automatically become a major construction project.

A small workshop shouldn't have to cost as much as a car.

A nonprofit shouldn't have to spend enormous amounts of money just to create a durable private space for someone who needs one.

A farmer, artist, small business, homeowner, emergency-response organization or community program should have more options than either buying something disposable or taking on a full conventional construction project.

We're trying to create another option.

If We Become More Efficient, Our Customers Should Benefit Too

Our philosophy is pretty straightforward:

If the cost of producing BaseBox goes down because we get better at what we do, the customer should share in that improvement.

That doesn't mean every future saving will automatically become a price reduction. Growing a company requires investment. Increased volume can help us build inventory, hire people, own more equipment, improve service and develop new products.

But our goal isn't to see how high a price the market will tolerate.

Our goal is to build a healthy company by delivering a product that provides real value.

Those are different approaches.

We think the second one builds a better business over the long term.

Start With What You Need

The new standard BaseBox is deliberately straightforward.

Start with the structure.

Then add the things that matter to you.

Want the secondary sloped roof? Add it.

Prefer a decorative embossed exterior? Choose it.

Need heating and cooling? Add the properly sized HVAC system.

Need solar and battery power? Add that.

Don't need those things? Don't pay for them.

That approach lets us keep the starting price lower while still allowing BaseBox to be configured around the project.

BaseBox 72 — From $13,299

The BaseBox 72 provides approximately 72 square feet of compact, finished space in a footprint small enough for a wide range of accessory applications.

It can be configured for storage, a workshop, office, studio, hobby space, field support and other uses where permitted.

Assembly is included.

BaseBox 152 — From $16,999

The BaseBox 152 provides approximately 152 square feet and significantly more room for desks, tools, equipment, creative work or flexible accessory space.

It uses the same basic steel-and-mineral-wool construction approach as the BaseBox 72 while giving you more room to configure the interior around the job.

Assembly is included.

Your Base. Your Way.

We started BuildSwift because we believed there had to be a better way to create useful space.

BaseBox is still evolving. So are we.

We'll keep looking for better materials, better suppliers, better logistics and smarter ways to operate. When those improvements allow us to create better value for our customers, that's exactly what we intend to do.

Because building a socially conscious business doesn't mean ignoring profit.

It means recognizing that customers, employees, suppliers, communities and the company itself all have a stake in whether the business works.

We want BuildSwift to succeed.

We also want the people buying what we build to feel like they got a fair deal.

We don't think those goals are in conflict.
